Studio Ocotillo

About

Studio Ocotillo is a small, Latina-owned fiber + textile shop based in Southern Arizona.

Every piece is delicately woven using sustainable fibers and materials that pay tribute to the colors, textures and indigenous plants of the Sonoran Desert. Each and every piece is uniquely crafted and no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.

We are passionate and environmentally mindful about our planet. All fibers are sourced and recycled responsibly. We aim to minimize waste and promote sustainability by sourcing materials locally when available, repurposing fabrics, packing orders with recycled packaging, saving cord trimmings for various other projects, and more.

A note from the artist:

I grew up in the sunny desert of Tucson, AZ. In the heart of my 20's, I began observing the resilience and underrated beauty of the ocotillo, a plant native to the Sonoran desert. Ocotillos become dull and dormant over periods of dry spells, the leaves fall off and they look like giant, spikey sticks. However, during monsoon season the ocotillo flourishes, gaining back its delicate green leaves and fiery red flowers that resemble tiny torches. They stand tall and bright, giving the luminous Arizona sky a gorgeous pop of color. Over the years, these observations have taught me to embrace change and find beauty in the little things. My work represents the simple idea that everything is connected and our surroundings have the power to help us feel a sense of tranquility in our everyday lives. This is my passion.

Thank you being here. ❤︎
